Internet randomly drops 4GEE Router

I have the 4GEE home router connected with a 4G antenna fitted on the roof of the property with strong signal strength and the past week the internet connection will randomly drop for 2-5 minutes at a time impacting work from home.

This seem to have been consistent since the service issue within our area (PE16 6BG

Tested this across many devices including:
- Desktop PC wired on lan
- Smartphone with other network

- Smartphone with another EE sim

- Wifi smart Devices

As aforemention, the problem we have is that the internet connection will just randomly drop for a few minutes at a time, any time of day, there doesn't appear to be other symptoms, this has only appeared to happen since the service issue in our area recently.

The logs from the 4GEE router itself doesn't appear to be helpful but will indicate how often it drops with the time between each time my work laptop connects to the router.

Hi,   I have been seeing exactly the same issue with my 4GEE router in recent weeks. 

I have logged many faults through the EE app and they never find a fault.

I have spoken to EE 2nd level support last week and they insist that there is nothing wrong with the mast , they say as the issue is load related and recommend an external antenna.

I have relocated the router to a different room and managed to get 3 bars of signal,  but still  our downlaod speed varies dramatically  (between 15 and 40 mb/S) . when working at home it still sometimes freezes for one or 2 minutes which is so frustrating..

Our signal is somewhat marginal,  on my phone in installed "network cell info lite"  and the needle is always in yellow .

 RSRP: -100 dBm  at best.

I have ordered and  external antenna (not from EE) which I will put on the chimney. that will surely help the signal strength.

But I also think that the intermittent "freezing" issue may well be the router itself, possibly overheating. The case does feel hot.

Next week for my one day working from home I am going to position a fan right next to the router blowing into the cooling holes at the rear.   If that helps I will  keep with the fanon hot days or buy replacement unlocked router such as the tp-link (draytech) MR6400
