High Ping Issues on 4GEE Router

Hi

I have tried talking with EE tech support about this today and they basically aren't interested in helping me because the speeds to my router are fine so thought I would try here. For around a month I have noticed my ping while playing games has been increasing to the point where it is unplayable. For example when we got the router and for around 5 months ping in games like League of Legends for example would sit around 60-70 (fine for me) but now it can start there and ping into the 200s/300s every 5-10seconds. See below for a quick ping test I did. Please if anyone has any tips on this would be greatl apprieciated :).

Using Mobile Broadband 5Gee router - Using 4G only due to the area.

Hard Wired with Ethernet Cable to PC (I have swapped ethernet cables as well)

Hi @Berja

Welcome to the community.

I'm not sure exactly why the ping is high. Is it only when you're connected to the game that you see the 200/300ms ping?

Chris

Hi

So the ping is that high when I’m in game and it’s easier to see the spikes as the ping is always displayed on screen. But whenever I’m using things like ookla speed test or a ping test they ALWAYS show latency even when my pc is the only thing hooked up to the router.

OK, thanks for explaining, @Berja

Do those ping spikes show when you do the speed test on another device that's connected to the 4G router too?

Chris

Hey

Yeah they do weather it’s a wired connection to my pc and work laptop or to my phone or my partners phone or laptop too. They all show the same spikes.

OK, thanks @Berja

Since this is happening on more than one device, it sounds like it could just be related to the coverage in your area. I'm not aware of any way to manually improve ping, but another community member might.

If you would like us to check the performance of the masts in your area, our technical support team can look into that, if you give them another call.
