Hello everyone,
I recently purchased an EE sim only deal to place in my very powerful router. The results have been fantastic as I’ve been on average, getting between 150mbps - 200mbps. The issue that I face is that I cannot access certain sensitive company websites (I work from home) and I’m unable to access many online gaming servers (e.g. Steam, Battle.net, Discord) as my IP is CGNAT.
I understand that this is the standard for EE, but the best broadband that I can get in my area is 73mbps and there’s no Fibre in my area yet. I have rang the EE technical line, and they have suggested I use these forums to contact higher levels of tech support within EE, so I’ll ask again here: Can I please be given a permanent static/dynamic line on the EE sim in my router? I am happy to pay additional costs. The speeds and latency I’m currently getting are three times faster than any home broadbands I can get.
Again, I’m happy to pay an additional fee. If this can’t be arranged, unfortunately I’m going to have to swap to a much slower broadband service with another carrier.
Best,
Alex

There is no way you can get a non-CGNAT'ed public IP on the EE mobile network nor, I should think, any mobile network. You'd only get it on fixed Home BB.
You are finding yourself up against a limitation of EE's mobile network. The EE mobile network uses Carrier Grade NAT (CGNAT) resulting in a double NAT, which games consoles often object to, which means you don't get your own public IP address but share it with other users. So you can't be uniquely id'ed on the Net & therefore your LAN cannot be addressed from outside for unsolicited accesses. This is unlike fixed BB.
If this occurs there is nowt you can do to avoid it.

Hello,
Thank you for the detailed response. I understand that static is completely out of the question. Is there not another option of having a dynamic IP (occasionally swaps but is individual at least) without CGNAT via this?
Again, I’m happy to pay any additional unique IP fees. Just to clarify: What you’re telling me is EE do not have the capabilities to support this? I know that Three and Vodafone can provide a dynamic IP via a SIM 5G router. The capabilities and infrastructure are there. It’s just that EE cannot provide this? Again, I’ve tried other providers, but EE’s services are the strongest in my area.
Best,
Alex

No, not even dynamic.
You might get a non-CGNET'ed public IP from 3 using their APN 3internet.
