Hi
I would like to see if anyone has had the same experience as me or a EE team member can answer my question.
I went into a EE store today to upgrade my phone, when talking to a EE team member the second question he asked me was “what was my salary” when answering the question he then told me the monthly/ the phone contract offers which was expensive. I then went online and showed the online prices for the same phone offer which was a lot cheaper than the original price he told me. Then he match the online price. I ended up walking away without upgrading.
my question is - why would I be asked for my yearly salary? Also is the just a regular question you get asked when upgrading your phone? as I haven’t upgraded my phone in 5 years, so I am unsure if this is just a normal question.

Hi @Holly578
You were asked becase you are entering into a credit agreement for your device and therefore need to pass a credit check.
Thanks

Hi
Thankyou so much for your advise/ comment
I just thought it was a weird question since they had my account up which would have shown I’ve been able to pay for my phone bill for the past 5 years. Also if it was a credit check wouldn’t they need proof?

Hi @Holly578
Your salary is checked via your credit search. If you are changing a plan for a lower amount to a larger plan you maybe checked, or if you are taking the handset out on credit.
