Unable to upgrade

My contract ran out early this week yet I cannot upgrade on line. Chat has been useless, app is useless. I could ring up, but these days it’s easier to sort out a new contract on line, which doesn’t seem to be the case. Pretty poor since I’ve been a customer since 2006. Anyone else had an issue trying to upgrade once your contract has ran out? I’ve sent emails but no response

What message do you receive when you try to upgrade?
If you text UP to 150 does it say you're eligible for an upgrade?
You might need to call EE CS on 150 if you cannot upgrade online.
