Know EE dose not care but why upgrade something that has already been upgraded . Away for weekend and unable to gift data to other devices unhappy kids makes for unhappy parent 

why EE do it over a Bank holiday 🤬🤬

Have you been able to gift data previously? 

If so, can you try deleting the app, then going to your app/play store and redownloading the My EE app.
