Hi
I have have FTTP.
So Digital Home is a rolling 30 day contract and to cancel it you have to give 30 days notice.
To port/move my number to another 3rd party VOIP provider, what is the best route?
1a. Contact EE, give notice/request cancellation
1b. After 30 days has elapsed, raise port request with 3rd party.
I believe numbers are available for 30 days post cancellation before being released/deleted. Is that correct?
or
2a. Raise port request with 3rd party to start the ball rolling
Would this automatically implement the 30 days notice period?
If number was ported within this period, I assume I would just continue to pay until it auto terminates with no consequences?
Anyone gone through this process?

@juiceof2limes I would opt for option 2a.
Some VOIP suppliers seem unable to recover the number after it has been cancelled, whereas taking over a working number is less troublesome.

Update.
Contacted EE and had Digital Home Phone service cancelled. Number no longer rings, gets engaged tone and the phone options within the EE router have disappeared. EE say I am now on a BB only package which I hope means number is no longer directly connected to me.
Made a porting request with VOIPFONE for the phone number. Slightly unnerving is that they say it will cease the line. But I am hoping that as I have FTTP this will not happen as both this and the number are separate.
Guess I will find out on the 4th June.

Quick update -
My landline number was successfully migrated to my VOIP provider last Wednesday 4th June without any impact to my FTTP connection which remains with EE.

Hey @juiceof2limes who have you gone with for your VOIP and how is it for you?

Went with Voipfone as already had an account with them for a work related number. Been with them for quite sometime and find them very good.
