Like many others it seems, I am trying to disable voicemail for my elderly mother. It causes serious problems when people assume that because they left a message it will be listened too.
I am guessing that the people who create these systems don't have elderly relatives. If they did then they would get it.
It should be a simple and reasonable request to be able to do this. But remarkably it is not. The best answer I get is that I can increase the number of rings to 10.
Has anyone cracked this and will EE listen to their customers?
Need the option to turn voicemail off.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

They are totally ambivalent and do not care about the upset unwanted voicemails calls .
I’m trying to leave EE as I feel I was misled & misold my package .

I have just encountered the same issue, I wanted to use my existing answering machine which has a message light. EE said not possible.
solution . Set EE to 10 rings set home answer to 7 rings. It works

Hi
If you have tried and not succeeded in having EE turn off voice mail.
You are not alone, there are 50 people on this website alone.
Look up the communications ombudsman
And send in a complaint, if enough people write in EE will be told to fix it.
I'm doing that now

Yes but when you are over 90, will you get to the phone in 20 seconds.
When you phone a bank and don't get through before 20 secs etc etc
When you pay for every missed phone call by phoning them back
will you be impressed ?

My 91 year old father in law has spent the night on the floor because he thought I'd hear the voicemail on the service that EE imposed on me. No, I didn't. We have a phone that answers call and displays a light when there's a message. He didn't press his care call because he'd left a message. EE say they can't remove it. I didn't even know I was being moved to EE from BT, and quite honestly, I wish I'd never moved. I only ever seem to get patronising young boys answering my queries. Too quick to quote Terms and Conditions, and no attempt at a solution that works.

Your guides quote 'its in the terms and conditions'. Well that doesn't help an old man on the floor overnight, does it? Patiently waiting becasue he knows the phone light will alert me to his message. Expect it didnt, because EE have put on a service I didn't ask for and don't want and can't remove.

@Furiousb1 I know that it is difficult and there are NO two systems that are alike with EE kind off digging there heels in around the Voice feature, there are pro-cons for everything and not all 100% guaranteed to cover every eventuality, so in saying this and @Christopher_G and @Leanne_T are sure a couple off guides who will take this serious!
Have also sent @Debbie_G direct PM on your posting details!

Hi @Furiousb1,
Welcome to the EE Community
I am very sorry to hear of the situation with your Father in law and I hope he is doing ok now after his fall. I can definitely understand being angry on the back of that happening and I am sorry the voicemail being enabled was not made clear to you previously when moving over to help alert you to look out for them.
Currently it is correct that an EE guide is not able to remove the voicemail from your account on EE digital voice. But I am sorry you feel your complaint is not being taken seriously when you call especially after what has happened.
I am going to send you a private message to get some more information and see what we can do to help.
Alex

@Furiousb1 : You can't turn landline 1571 VM service OFF but when you dial 1571 under Personal Options (2) > Calling Options (3) > Ring Period (2) there is an option to set the ring period to Short (4 rings), Medium (7 rings) or Long (10 rings) to give time for your own answering machine or yourself to pick it up.
