Disable Voicemail on Landline

Like many others it seems, I am trying to disable voicemail for my elderly mother.  It causes serious problems when people assume that because they left a message it will be listened too.

I am guessing that the people who create these systems don't have elderly relatives. If they did then they would get it.

It should be a simple and reasonable request to be able to do this. But remarkably it is not. The best answer I get is that I can increase the number of rings to 10.

Has anyone cracked this and will EE listen to their customers?

Need the option to turn voicemail off.

There is no option to turn 1571 VM off with EE.

I have been an EE customer for less than a week. I am disgusted to find this Voicemail 'Service'has been imposed on me. There was no indication in any of the information that this would be imposed. I wish to disable the Voicemail Service on my landline. It would appear this is not possible. It's a disgrace.

Yes I have now found out the voicemail cannot be turned off. I have spent about 3 hours over the past couple of days on the phone to EE trying to cancel. At no point did anyone actually tell me you cannot cancel the voicemail. Instead they just kept telling me it was a setting on my handset. All very frustrating. I really needed to be able to cancel this service and am lost for words on finding out I can't. Why do people impose things to make life more difficult? It really is difficult enough.

@JBrannan The answer below has already been posted.

Hi mate, apologies for the delay. I've been told no it's not possible to turn off voicemail at the moment you can only have it removed. I've heard this is potentially going to change, but no time scale yet unfortunately.

Thanks for this reply, which is very helpful. Sadly during my 3 hours of phone conversations I have not manged to find out how you can have the voicemail removed. I do want to remove it but am told that it is not a product I have on my service and therefore it cannot be cancelled. Would love to know how it can be removed if you have a link or something else...Thanks.

@JBrannan It is only something that EE CS can do for you, in doing so a lot of other features will no doubt be disabled as well as those are tied in with the voicemail control, The feature is to be disabled like BT has, in the future but do defined timescale as such from EE yet. The text i sent was direct from the DV specialist team.

Thanks. Your replies have been very helpful.

I am having that same issues.

The Customer Services team keep on saying it is technically possible but they have to go through a specialists team as the option has been removed from the Customer Service's options (it used to be something that they could do easily via the BT interface but its no longer available on the EE system).

You have to keep on asking for the problem to be escalated to a Manager, then Team Lead, then to the technical team!

I am on hold as we speak - trying for the third time this month to get Voicemail turned off.
