A few weeks ago I moved from Plusnet to EE and therefore transferred from analogue voice to EE's digital voice. Everything worked for about three weeks until someone left a message on voicemail (1571 service). I listened to the message and then deleted it. However the dial tone will not return to normal i.e. I get a diall tone that pulses, approximately on for about half a second, then a pause for half a second, and so on. This is the dial tone that indicates that there is a message waiting, but all voice messages have been deleted. I have contacted EE support and they have no idea what to do and aren't really very interested. They rebooted the router but that had no effect. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Hi @Blackspot
Welcome to the EE Community,
try calling your landline number and leaving a new message yourself then listen to it and delete the message it should then restore your normal dial tone.
Thanks
David

@Blackspot The dial tone indication on picking up the phone was NON operational for a long while with regards to ((VM Indication)) and has been worked on by EE to get it to a state where at least there was working again some form of indication, so the state off operation may be a little bit OFF at present, as @David has suggested may be worth a try to see what effect it produces, may also be worth doing a double check since it is indicating that it THINKS a VM is in the system as a test also, then check again how the dial tone sounds.
The only Forum report is at least it is BACK and indicating, which for many is a major glad that's done. DV has had a lot of issues...👍

Thanks for the reply. I found that when the next message left was deleted, the dial tone returned to normal. I suppose that if you get a lot of messages, you wouldn't notice this problem. EE support don't appear to know this is a fix (of sorts), they told me to do a factory reset of the router, which I didn't do. That wouldn't be a very convenient fix.

Actually, I missed something which may be important out of my original post. With the message that caused the dialtone problem, I listened to the message, then saved it. I later listened to the message again and then deleted it. The dial tone didn't return to normal, even though there were no messages in my mailbox.
With the message that cleared the problem, I listened to it and then deleted it immediately. The dial tone returned normal. If anyone is so inclined, they may be able to recreate the problem.
