DECT Analogue Phone Saved Number not dialling Anymore

Hi,

Having a poor experience with the new Digital Voice handsets, especially a distance from my EE WiFi 7 router, I have reverted back to my trusty BT cordless phones, which have worked flawlessly for months until last week.

Now, if you try and dial a saved number, the number dials itself so quickly, the number doesn’t dial?

Have tried restarting phones and the router but the issue persists. Can someone help please as we have elderly parents who use our landline to call us?

Thank you.

Hi Jim, that works, but its the speed dialling that didn't work.

Anyway - I'm glad to report the problem is solved - I called 150 and spoke to a really helpful guy who did a SIP re-registration, coupled with a reset of the Home Hub Pro. That fixed the problem - speed dials now working as they should.

That would seem to be an issue with the phones themselves.

Where is the base station plugged into? Back of router or an ATA adapter?

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

Hi,

Probably is, but for all to exhibit the same behaviour at the same time? Just seems strange. The base station is plugged into the back of the router.

Havent done anything with them, they’ve just started doing it.

@Greg_T Have you tried just dialling it manually and not using the saved phonebook option?

Hi Jim, that works, but its the speed dialling that didn't work.

@Greg_T Glad it's all back up and working, just a real pity two things were done and not defined to were the error is/was.

SIP being done fine step one, the reset off the 7 Pro hub though that's the screwball, why was it needed and what way did he do it all?

You should in theory be able to stick your other DV Phones back on if you wish and use, but your ATA on the EE Hub just appears to have got messed up on your trusty old BT dect base connection, at least there was nothing at all wrong with them.

If it happens again, just try switching your hub off for at least 5 mins and see what it is like when back on.

Hiya Jim,

I agree - I think the factory reset of the 7 Pro Hub was unnecessary - I think it was belt and braces if I'm honest. I say that because I do have a single DV handset still connected and that dialled out fine using a speed dial prior to the reset and the re-registration?

The DV phones are great when they work, but I'm in a big, old property with solid walls so the handsets periodically disconnected from the router, which you didn't know until an incoming call came in and it didn't ring, or you went to make an outbound call and didn't get a dial tone? The old DECT phones have great range as you know, and work anywhere in the house.

Its a real shame the DV handsets won't register to one of the 7 Pro WiFi Extenders, as I'm certain they'd all work fine.

@JimM11 Jim, do you know if the Digital Voice Adapter lets you register a DV handset to it? This might extend my range of my existing DV handsets if it does?

@Greg_T NO, The DVA  is registered to the EE Hub's internal dect, the Digital Home Phone will not touch the Dect in the DVA, looks like you are trying to use it as a booster, not going to work that way. BT used to do one but not sure if you can still get and the Dect protocol has a few NON standard way's that why some features work or don't, you will not know that until you try though.

BT DECT Repeater | BT Help

Depending on what BT units you have they can be registered direct to the EE Hub, then you need to establish is it the stupid EE Hub dect that is poor, or is the Handset base station the puppy with the great signal.

Dect is like wifi, does sometimes not signal about well, the fact your phones are great all over the ship, then sounds like they are the good ones when combined as a complete unit.

@JordanTA has anyone asked or tried Dect frequency extending that you are aware off, or any units that will work on the DV side to the 7Pro hub in use for @Greg_T with his Digital Home phones.  It's now just a wait if the EE Product specialist has some advice on the subject.
