Calls from Poland to UK Landline Not Connecting

Hoodedoracle

For the last two weeks we have had the same problem.  We can make a call to POLAND using our landline (DIGITAL PHONE), but those in POLAND cannot call us in UK?

We can call our phone, as can others in the UK.

They can call others in POLAND as can others in POLAND call them in POLAND.

We have had to resort to using WhatsApp on our mobiles (luckily I have unlimited data).

The annoying thing is that we have the landline solely for contacting those abroad who struggle with mobiles.  There is definitely a fault somewhere - as I can see similar queries raised on GIFF GAFF, O2, 3 and other providers.

Hi again @Hoodedoracle.

I can see you've mentioned checking your blocking settings and these all look fine, but do you happen to know if you can receive international calls from other numbers?

It is possible to block these outright, as well as blocking individual numbers, but we don't block on a country by country basis, or based around connection type.

It could also be worth selecting this option to block international calls, wait a bit of time, then remove the block to see if this resolves things.

If you continue to struggle from there, I would recommend giving our team a call, and they can help you investigate further.

Hello @Hoodedoracle ,

Welcome to the community,

Are they making sure that they are putting +44 or 0044 in front of the number and leaving the 0 off the number, I mean instead of ringing 021… they are using +4421… as an example for making calls to the UK, if you get what I mean? Otherwise I have no idea why it is not working and it must be something to do with Poland, nothing to do with UK, which we can solve, they would have to speak to their providers to find out why, otherwise.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using web based app or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

I believe this post was originally added, in "me too "style, to a thread regarding roaming in Poland, before being split into its own thread.

Can your Polish contacts call you on other UK numbers? Do you have any issues with receiving calls from other networks in the UK? That includes landline operators as well as mobiles.

If you know customers of other UK operators who have similar issues, it lends itself to an interconnect issue. The Polish customers should be reporting this to their providers - there are processes in place to investigate this sort of problem.

It was working fine up to 24th of Oct 25 - when it started to cut out after 30 mins - then after that date - they have not been able to call our number?

According to them - they have no issues calling other countries, or anyone else in Poland... just calling us?

and NO they are not blocked by my call barring/preference.

We can call them from our landline.

We can speak using WhatsApp, we can Video Conference using Teams - all without problem

But they are elderly and prefer the landline as they struggle when on their own to use modern tech.

I think it is likely their end, but why - but I have seen similar issues with other landline providers online being reported.
