WhatsApp/VoIP calls constantly dropping out on Smart Hub Pro

I'm on 1.6Gbps full fibre with the Smart Hub Pro and having a really frustrating issue with my S25 Ultra. Speedtest shows the full 1.6Gbps no problem, but WhatsApp/Slack/Messenger calls are constantly dropping out while I'm talking, audio cuts, poor quality throughout, even standing right next to the hub with full signal. Doesn't matter if the phone is on Wi-Fi 7 or 6E, same thing either way.

Phone works perfectly on every other network I use it on, no call issues anywhere else. And all my other devices at home are fine on this hub. So it seems to be something specific about this phone and this hub together. Hub is on default settings, WPA3-Personal-Transition, all bands on. Additionally calls are fine connected via the ethernet.

I've found others with the same problem. Someone on XDA with the exact same combo (S25 Ultra + Smart Hub Pro) had full speedtest results but awful WhatsApp calls, YouTube buffering and broken Wi-Fi calling: https://xdaforums.com/t/wifi-7-issues.4746000/

There's also a thread on here about Smart Hub Pro Wi-Fi problems with lots of devices: https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Broadband-Landline/Smart-Hub-Pro-WiFi-7-connection-problems-with-many-...

And in this one a community manager said they'd look into it but there's been no update since: https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/Broadband-Landline/Fix-problems-connecting-devices-to-your-Smart-Hub-P... @James_B

So, is this a known issue with the Smart Hub Pro and the Samsung S24/S25? Did anything come of that earlier thread? And is there a firmware fix on the way? Would also be good to know what the current latest firmware is so I can check what mine's on.

Happy to run any tests if it helps track this down. It's an easy one to misdiagnose because speedtests look perfect, it only shows up on calls.

Latest f/ware vers. for SH 7 Pro is r3.8.24 or r3.8.26. See EE Hub firmware versions

Those calls are not VoIP. Ordinary landline calls would be.

One thing i can say, when on the EE Smart Hub 6 Plus (New Name) from Mar 2024 to Mar 2025 EE Wifi Calling was working fine Whatsapp (All the good lady use's) and Samsung A32 is her model, i have the A54 also no issues in general calling for me, without WiFi calling we would have had two bricks for mobile although they were EE sims in them the EE Mobile service was Pants, now back to O2 mobile bit better but still rely on wifi calling no matter what!

Seems I am currently on r3.8.26 and GUI Version 3.1.3

@grafail Probably the one to be on, the last one is a possible 💩 for those unfortunate to have it, does not resolve your problem but may be worth setting up the Comp network WPA2-PSK 2.4Ghz and see how the phone handles calling in that mode off operation, testing only as speed will not be great at all. If you have extenders would be worth seeing where your phone is actually attached to at the call point, or a quick wifi off / on when near the Hub just incase it is latched somewhere else on the wifi.
