I am due an upgrade next month and even when talking to an advisor, flexipay is the only option. I don’t want a two year contract with a three year phone to pay off. Why has something that has worked so well in the past been changed? I am now going to look around at other places to see what is available. Shame…9 years customer.

Because previously when your 24 month contract ended you paid the exact same amount regardless even though you had effectively paid off your phone. Companies are all going this way where they split the payment sinto device and tariff, and with the price of phones these days they are all going 36 months with the device plan.

For every post on this forum complaining about the legacy pricing structure, there's a post complaining about the new one!
I'm not sure why you think the device plan is over 3 years, they're mostly 2 years. I'm also fairly sure you can also decide the phone plan length for yourself - thus all that's changed is the two elements are now contractually split.

You are right I haven't checked that as my upgrade options are still broken as per my post the other day, But you can change it to either 24 month or 36 month device plan.
I tested this by not logging in and pretending being a new customer.

You’re right, and I have tried two years. Get no options available. Maybe I need to try a different combination of gb etc. I would like it all to finish at the same time…just my own peace of mind.

They give you a 24 month and 36 month box just under the options for the device.
The default is 36 month as they are showing you the lowest price per month you could get.

Thankyou. I have been back on and explored a bit more. It’ll just be trial and error till I find what is right for me. I suppose (begrudgingly because I did like the old way), that this will enable people to choose what is right for them and gives people more choice.
