Hi
My current sim only contract expires on 12/12/24 and I have found a deal online on your website for £16 per month unlimited as an existing customer.
But when I use the EE app and go to sim upgrades it trys to charge me £22 for the exact same sim! I dont understand why.
So to summarise when I use the EE website and dont login and press the existing customer button it charges me £16 a month for the unlimited essentials sim but when I login first then click upgrade it is then £22 for the exact same sim. Can you explain why this is?
I have attached screenshots.

Hi @delloy
Thanks for coming to our community.
The difference in price is due to one being an upgrade price, and the other being an additional line price. As an existing customer, you would get a discount for any other lines you add on, and this is what the existing customer price refers to.
If you upgrade to a SIM plan, there's no need to cancel your existing plan, it would change over when your contract ends on the 12th automatically if you set it up before then.

I would like to add to this with another question.
As mentioned my current sim only contract period expires on 12/12/2024 if I go ahead with the new sim only contract at £16 today do I have to cancel my existing sim only contract to stop it. Does cancelling the current sim only contract take 30 days from date of notification to complete. So if I cancel my current contract today it will end on the 28th Dec? Is this correct?

@delloy As mentioned it’s an additional line on your account to get it at £16, so if you did take out this £16 contract as an additional line on your account and then terminate your current contract the £16 contract will automatically be charged at the full contract amount of £22. It’s a discount for a 2nd line on your account and no second line it then becomes the only line so the discount isn’t applicable.

Hi @Chris_B ,
I know the OP has got sorted, but just to point out the multi-line discount is now a flat £12 instead of percentage based since the Tariff Refresh so doing it in this way would actually result in paying more (£28).
The way EE are building this tariff is with a £32 SIM, discounted by £4 to £28, and then £12 multi-line taking it to £16.
