Prepaid to contract

Hi Everyone, 

I switched my prepaid to a monthly phone contract and got 20% off my contract. 

but after the first month this switched back to full price

Why is this 

the customer advisor also took £200 off the upfront cost of my phone, she said there was a special promotion
