My previous phone was sim only, the phone stopped working so we replaced it with a new handset from EE, we cancelled the direct debit but now have letters stating they’ve suspended the account and we owe money

@Katieryecam22  Did you upgrade or just take out a contract?    Sounds like you just took out a contract.  You’re still in contact with the sim only. 

Just stopping a DD doesn’t terminate a contract you have to call and give 30 notice and you’ll be required to pay of that contract to be be minimum term date.
