I want to Leave EE due to the huge price increase

Damient

The subject explains really why I want to leave EE. I'm 1 year and 4 months into my contract and with the huge price increase imposed on the contract I'm looking to leave.

According to Citizens advice I have the right to cancel my contract with in 30 days of the price increase issued but does say not without a possible fee.

I'm not looking to walk away without a fee but wanting to pay off the phone as its only fair. When I've called twice now I'm told the cost with includes my line rental and phone. Doing this I'd be best off staying with EE .

Has anyone managed to cancel the contract and just pay for there phone and not the total cost of the contract thats left?

@Sps1706   What you get paid has nothing to do with EE and what pay raise you might or might not get still has nothing to do with EE.  EE don’t set the CPI rate and you agreed to CPI + 3.9% not knowing what that CPI rate could be at that time of agreement.

Wages paid do go some way to say something about a company. They have raked in an extra 14.4% from every contract and shared none of this with the poor people who have to work for them. That aside the subject is about the lack of customer service EE provide. With such a substantial contract increase (CPI has historically been 2-3%) they should have given the customers the option to end early like the ombudsman is trying to make them do. I could get a brand new and newer model with just as much data etc for less than I'm paying for my now old phone but they couldn't care less as long as they have you over a barrel. Yes we signed a contract and some did miss the small print, but historically the rise has been a couple of quid not double figures. There will be a mass exodus from EE as soon as people's contracts come to an end.

Now more than ever, there is a growing importance for companies to focus on social responsibility. In today’s challenging economic environment, big companies like EE are expected to go beyond traditional profit making activities and actively contribute to the well being of the society…Of course I know the terms I have signed and as you said the company doesn’t care about the wages of people. What I am saying is I am going to leave EE after 10 years when my contract ends in 4 months. I believe that thousand of people are doing the same. EE will lose more money than the 14% increase they have charged me over the last few months.

@TimGarrett   Just like other networks who increased their prices.   One network did 17.7%     Yes you can get a better deal now on EE just like other networks,  so while you think people will leave EE others will leave other networks and join EE because they are not happy with the increase they got on that network.    The ombudsman is also not looking at getting people out of a contract when this happens they are looking at a fixed price increase so you know what to expect when you agree to a contract.

Unfortunately not, this  company offers the highest prices for the worst possible internet, glad I'm switching, same price 10x the speed.

Want me to pay 300£ exit fee but in October it expires, counting down.

Wish I never done this contract

@NotAfll  As this thread is from 2023 it’s not relevant to the latest price increase.  December cpi rate was 2.5 + 3.9%    As for the highest prices all the major networks are about the same. If you’re looking at a MVNO network just make sure they offer all the services you need.   As for wanting you to pay £300 to terminate a contract early it is a contract that you want to get out of that you agreed to honour when you took it out.    And all networks have good a poor location areas for network coverage.    But you say internet so is that broadband?    Because no really says internet for cellular data.

There is no honour among thieves, as that's how I see them for the service they provide,as I said I wish I never signed the contract due to my ignorance at the time was sold the best internet in the area, an opinion and not a fact. As the best in the area I just signedd a contract with, and guess what 6 months free. Plus again 10 x the speed and Covering my exit fee as well.

Now that's a company

@NotAfll   You don’t purchase the internet and that’s not what’s being sold to you via a contract.    EE covers exit costs but you wouldn’t know that as you were already a customer.    Everything is always better when you look elsewhere do you not know this.

, ee don't cover nothing for me, they said I had to pay, the new company I signed with is covering my exit fee as they give me half a year of free internet fibre, instead of louzy 50 mbps a second, I get 300-500 mbps

For the same price! And on top of that garantee full home coverage, again unlike what I currently have where internet constantly disconnect in my home, ipay for the internet it's not free, what are you on about.
