I am currently out of contract with my sim card and paying the same or slightly less, is there a way i can sort this online, rather than over the phone as i struggle to take things in over the phone it is quite frustrating not having a web chat service. as i need to have things written down. Is there any other way to fix it or is it just that i must phone ?

With the exception of FlexPay plans, no contracts reduce in price when you are outside the minimum-term - which many users confuse with being "out of contract". You agree a set-price for your plan which continues on a rolling basis until you explicitly give disconnection notice or make a change.
With a FlexPay plan, you have 2 separate contracts each with their own monthly payments - one for the phone-loan, which automatically stops once repaid, and another for your monthly airtime.
Not sure what you mean by "sort this", but you can change your payment plan via your myEE online account - login, and follow the links to "upgrade now". Choose your new SIM-only plan, and it should take effect in a couple of days.

@Ashley-1121 is this a flex tariff? are you still paying for the device? If you are you can’t change the Airtime part of that contract via your account you have to speak with customer support there is a live chat and it’s available via the EE app under help. If it’s a sim only contact and you’re eligible to upgrade then you can do this via your online account/EE app.

If this is a traditional handset plan, there may be a 10% discount 3 months after the end of min. term. You may always choose to upgrade your contract to a cheaper SIM-Only contract from the last 30 days of your contract term.
