I currently pay monthly for my phone with 40GB of data and was wondering if there was a way of upgrading that to unlimited. But obviously I don’t want the extra unlimited charge on top of what I’m currently paying monthly for. I would like to take the 40GB off completely and swap it for unlimited. Any help would be appreciated

I am assuming you are currently paying for a phone plan and not a SIM Only.
If you call EE they may potentially give you the option to do a change of price plan to allow you to increase your data allowance while continuing on your phone plan at a higher cost. They may not be able to do this in some cases, so be prepared to hear that just in case.
If you are on a SIM Only however, it would just be a matter of upgrading to a different tariff.

@SamGray__ Sorry that’s not possible. To have change of data allowance to include more data will mean a higher price point. Your current contract is for that amount of data at that price per month and increasing it to unlimited will mean paying more.

I think the OP means is that they don't want to pay for the unlimited data add-on on top of their current monthly charge, but would rather move to a different price plan with Unlimited data.
If not, then absolutely it cannot be done without an increase in what the customer pays for their tariff.

I’m not saying purchasing a data add on or I would have put that and I didn’t say anything about purchasing any add ons.
I’m taking about a change of data allowance for the contract and that will result in a higher price point if change of allowance is requested. The current contract is for that data allowance at that price point and an increase in data all will mean paying more. You can’t have more and not pay for that privilege.
just like if the increase is requested you’ll not be able to go back into the original contract price point until you are past half way past the contract term.

I am also talking about the same thing, changing the price plan, which will go up in order to have Unlimited Data.
If you read the OP's post again they said about paying for an Unlimited charge "on top of". I took this to mean that they do not want to purchase a add-on/bolt-on on top of their current tariff but would prefer to move to an Unlimited price plan.
If they meant getting Unlimited for completely free without paying anything extra, your post is correct and this is not possible nor logical, as I originally said in my reply.
My reply was supplementary to your advice, not in place of your advice, to cover the possibility that they were talking about an add-on.
