Hi everyone, I could really use some help!
I’m looking to cancel my 24-month EE SIM contract, which began last July and is set to end next July. I’m currently on the 125GB plan with unlimited texts and calls for £25 a month.
When I signed up, I had just moved to the UK and didn’t realise I wouldn’t be using the data as much as I thought—I rarely need internet while I’m out. Now the monthly cost feels like an unnecessary expense for something I barely use.
I’d really like to switch to a pay-as-you-go plan instead, but I’m not sure how to go about it. I’ve spent all morning on my EE account and couldn’t find any option to manage, cancel, or switch the plan.
If anyone could guide me through the process or offer advice, I’d really appreciate it! Thank you in advance.

You can't downgrade to a cheaper plan mid-term, but only in your upgrade window from 30 days before end of term.

If I decided to switch to a different provider with a pay as you go plan would that cancel my contract?

Yes, & if you did it now you'd be liable for early termination fees.

You might also find a SIM-only plan with lower data allowance would suit - check your bills and phone's data counter to see what your average usage is.
All that said, and as per the previous reply, it's a moot point whilst you're within the minimum-term.
