Hi,
So I got a 5G sim on a 1-month 100mbps capped contract to see if it would be reliable enough for broadband usage.
"Essentials Data Sim Unlimited 1m" £20 with the discount
I am now happy that it is good enough and want to upgrade to the uncapped 24m contract.
"Unlimited All Rounder" £30 with the discount
But there seems to be no way to actually do this? The only option seems to be to cancel the existing SIM, wait for that to end and order a new SIM with the new contract.
Given my current 1m contract has ended I don't really understand why I can't upgrade. LET ME GIVE YOU MONEY lol.
Also my god the management section of the website is a total nightmare to navigate.

Hi @TechAUmNu,
Welcome to the EE Community
What are you seeing when trying to upgrade? Is it the same both in app and on the website? Does texting UP to 150 from the number report back you are eligible to upgrade?

Hi Alex,
There is no option to upgrade and the website and 150 both say the same thing.
"You are not due an upgrade until 22/04/2025. From that date you can pay a fee to upgrade early. Check out your offers at ee.co.uk/customershop or call us on 150"
Which is hilarious when I also got a message saying it was free to cancel. What is causing the 6month upgrade block on a sim only contract. Seems broken.
Hi from EE. If you were to end your contract today, you'd pay £0 for xxxxxxxxxxxx, excluding any outstanding Add to Plan payments. This charge would be added to your final bill if you decide to go ahead. Please visit ee.co.uk/leavingus to find out more. Thanks"
Thanks,
Euan

Thanks for giving that a try for us @TechAUmNu.
I know when it comes to upgrading to a device from SIM Only you need to have been with us for at least six months, but switching to a different SIM may still be an option.
If you give our customer care team a call, they'll be able to check over all the options available for you so we can be 100% sure.
