Bill Payment Period

HI,

Really struggling to understand EE mobile billing.

Is it in advance or arrears?

As I read my bill, it is in advance.

Surely the above means I am being charged £52.43 for the period 18 Dec-1 Jan?

Why do I ask, because I started a new SIM only contract on the 18th December, so my advance payment should have been £10. The bill estimate showing on my E.E. app for the next payment 18th Jan is correct at £10.

Billing, when called, say that mobile bills are payed in arrears...

So that would mean e.g. I buy a new contract phone or SIM only contract on the 1st the month, then I don't pay anything until the last day of the month for the month I have just used the product, I don't think so.

Unless anybody can enlighten me to the error of my interpretation of my bills, then it would then look potentially like 'Sharp Practice' by E.E. not to credit the difference.

Hoping to find some help.

Regards

Paul

Billing is in advance, but is set around your bill cycle.

Any mid-cycle amendments or additions are reflected on the next available bill.

If your bill date is the 18th and you add a new product on the 1st, then the next bill have pro-rata charges in arrears from 1st > 17th, and then arrears from 18th > 17th.

@Paul_SM  It’s only out of allowance charges that are billed in arrears as obviously you can not pay upfront for something you have done.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Hi, I understand the point you make, but I don’t think you carefully read my text. My reference to the first of the month was an example. My contract ended on the 17th December and my new contract began on the 18th December, there is no cross over period! So, how can E.E. charge me for the first full month of my new contract at the old contract rate, when technically, it did not exist, it ended the 17th and the new began on the 18th. Please explain. Thanks Paul

My understanding of "contract ended" is that you have given 30days notice, and been disconnected. You will then have subsequently taken out a new contract on potentially a brand new account - is that what you mean?

If you have changed plan on an existing account, that is classed as an upgrade. My previous post was on the basis that you added a new additional line to an existing account - based on your statement "So that would mean e.g. I buy a new contract phone or SIM only contract on the 1st the month"

It's likely to sort the refund next month. The new contract starting on the same day won't have been fully active on the system when the bill was produced

Thank you for your response.

My 2 year contract for an iPhone ended on the 17th December.

So you are correct, the new sim only monthly contract was technically an upgrade, which began on the 18th December.

I thought that they classed that as a new contract?

But anyway, the new billing cycle for the sim only upgrade began on the 18th, therefore, surely the December to January bill should be charged at the new monthly rate?

You help is appreciated.

Paul

Sounds like yours is a change of payment plan on your bill date. If that was requested & set-in-motion prior to your bill date, then I'd normally expect the bill to reflect the new price.

Good morning @Paul_SM

If you completed your upgrade on the 18th, your bill will have been produced on this day too. Therefor the system would still produce a bill for your old contract cost and not the sim only contract that you had signed up for.

Your next month bill will rectify this and produce any credits necessary, it will show your upgraded price and a refund for your previous month.

As stated above the only thing that will be charged in arrears is any additional charges (out of bundle).

Here is a link to explain your bill after a upgrade: https://ee.co.uk/help/billing-payments/guide-to-bill/after-an-upgrade

I hope this explains it for you.

Thanks
