can i check if someone in block uses my wifi?

a neighbour set up my ring doorbell and had to input my password. following day i realised that he could my wifi from his flat if he chose to - can i switch router off whilst i am away so no one can use it?

hi i think it says EE smart hub on the back, and i know i have a slow speed - cost was important as a pensioner! i have tried to find out more about security issues but to be honest, i have just about worn out my brain with all the information!! i don't think the neighbour would use it, probably has a faster one himself but when i realised my vulnerability i started to get paranoid!

hi i think i posted a reply instead of clicking on reply after your response - sorry! i expect i am worrying for nothing as he probably has much faster access himself anyway. I expect it's just the feeling of vulnerability! can i turn off the router whilst on holiday or will it cause more problens?

@iris15 If as you say that you have a slow speed, are you connected to an old Master Socket with your BB router?
That type of connection is not good for having the Router switched off, as it can lead to all kinds off reduced enforced speed changes that you do not wish to have. If you need to have a look and see what is connected to your network you can do by browsing on http://192.168.1.254 my network will show you the connected names, that you can hopefully work out.

Iris, if you’re really worried, what about changing the WiFi password (and keeping a secure note of it, maybe with the router setting “card”)?

- You could look at which devices are connected in your router's Advanced >
- There's no reason why you shouldn't turn you router off for extended periods while you're away as long as you don't do it too frequently.

Login to your EE Smart Hub/Router at http://192.168.1.254 with the admin password on the bottom of the slider label on the back of the router. Then on the Advanced > Advanced Wireless page you should be able to see your WiFi password in clear & change it if you like.
