i got a hive hub form british gas which has been working fine up to now i been told i need to check that
The ports a Hive Hub requires are open
UDP port 123 (NTP)
TCP port 443 (HTTPS)
TCP port 5671 (AMQPS)
how do i do this?

@XRaySpeX Not sure why nthe OP is having problems, I have the hive hub and it works without such a problem, maybe they should contact Hive to get this sorted. This does not seem right to me.

Are these incoming or outgoing ports? You don't need to open outgoing ports. I suspect that ports 123 & 443 are outgoing. I dunno about 5671. To open incoming ports you need to set up the Port Forwarding on the router.

hive provider told me to contact ee and ee have told that they can not check these settings and i have no idear what i am doing

EE wouldn't necessarily know what ports, if any, of some device would need opening. Why should they? It's not their device. It's down to the spec of the device by its provider.

I have been using a Hive Hub for many years and I have never had to open any incoming port on my router.
