Wifi speed on an xbox one connecting to a asmart wifi pro box

Hi

I have recently got 2 Smart wifi pro's as i live in an old house.  I connect my xbox tirelessly, and have a smart wifi outside the bedroom door, however a speed check on the xbox returns

Download speed 26.82 Mbps

Upload speed 22.71 Mbps

Latency 176ms

I gave 900gbps package.

If I connect an ethernet cable to test then I get roughly 300Mbps on upload speed.

I am trying to understand why going wireless is so horrendous, especially when trying to game.

I connect to 5GHz, IPv4 & IPv6 and NAT Type is Open

@Chopper1885 Ethernet to test where, and 300Mb/s upload are you sure as that would NOT be correct on a current OR / EE connection!

And for speed related issues good read.

Hi @JimM11

So the ethernet cable is from the Lan slot on the Smart wifi pro box that sits in the upstairs hallway into the xbox.

On the xbox you can run a 'test network speed and statistics'. If I run this whilst cabled into the Smart wifi pro then I get the following:

Download speed 344.38 Mbps

Upload speed 51.69 Mbps

MTU 1480

Latency 153 ms

As you can see much better speed but Latency still high which causes issues when gaming

Thanks

@Chopper1885 And until you wire back to the EE Router direct then your latency may never go down as you are still a wireless wi-fi connected device!
