Hi @lizbos

Have you followed your printers instructions for connecting to your wifi network. Not sure why you need to go into your router admin settings.

Thanks

Yes I have. The printer shows the router name etc but when I try to connect it won't. Someone else on here posted it was necessary to go to admin setting and do something with wps button on router but didn't explain how to do it. The post is inactive now.

Hi @lizbos

You mean the compatibility option to connect older devices. Which router do you have.

Thanks

Yes I have.  Status report says  DNS server could not be found. Also found admin settings and unconnected printer which says connection type unknown , address assignment DHCP, Always use this ip address NO, ipv6 addressing not enabled for ipv6 addressing, no port forwarding rules set for this device

@lizbos : Admin settings of what? Your Android phone, where you posted, or a Broadband router?

I doubt any settings need changing to help connect a printer. Have you tried WPS?

Let us know what you are trying to do with what, so we can help you!

Apparently I have to reset printer then search for  wifi while pressing wps button on router. As printer and router are in different rooms I can't do that. I'm  a wheelchair user so bit limited as to what I can do. Liz

What is the make/model of the printer you have? What is the make/model of the router you have?

WPS pairing is typically timebound and doesn't require that you are holding anything down on the router whilst trying to connect from the printer. The way it normally works is that you would trigger WPS on the router by single-pressing the WPS button. The lights on the router are then likely to change status whilst WPS is 'active'. This active period is normally a minute or two. During the active period, you would then trigger WPS on the connecting device. All being well, the two devices will then connect.

If they don't, then there are possibly other workarounds, however it's helpful to know what router you have before advising further.

Hi

Thank you for your explanation of the process. The printer is quite old and Epson PX730 and the router is an ee Smarthub plus. Printer doesn't have a wps button and I have setup the wifi manually on it. That fails and status report say dns server not found. Should I delete before trying to connect with the router wps or not?

@lizbos : How can you connect using WPS if the printer doesn't have WPS?
