@rabl Have a check on your EE Hub, see if it feels overly warm to the touch, can be one off the reason's that the wifi frequency bands shut's down and your Lan stay's up so the EE Hub is in a survival mode.
As you say green light up do you mean it's Aqua in colour, green is one off the Hub lights showing and does get real hard to distinguish the Green/Aqua colour difference.
Although that EE Smart Hub 7 Pro version as you do mention the SH40J has been recently FW updated to the one you mention all you can do now is keep an eye on it, the Factory reset you have done will have flushed it all back to operation state, but if you can DO NOT do it again..... Last two below gives you the idea as to when/what has been happening, and the FW update pinned link also display's but the Pro is now showing completed status as EE have updated the table....
FW: r4.29.1-R-1930437-PROD-1 and the gui is at App Version 3.14.5 27/07/2026
FW: r5.16.1-R-2011329-PROD-1 and the gui is at App Version 3.17.5 20/08/2026

@rabl Way to do it, make sure it does not get warm though direct sunlight etc, overly warm is if you cannot keep hold off the unit then there is an issue, but it will be warmer nearer the top more than at the bottom.
It's always hard to say, the MORE the wifi on wireless get's used etc then it does get pushed more to the limits and will build up heat that is just unavoidable, but hears hopping that the new FW update has NOTHING to do with it at all.... You've not had any heat issues or instant switch off's like now before?🤔

Worked all day yesterday, wifi went off again overnight, doesn't feel overly warm and wasn't getting overused during night, this started happening on the 1st September and to my knowledge hasn't happened before, only had this router since July , don't know when it actually got the FW upgrade. Wondering what my next step is.

@rabl This is what you opened your post with to start with ""smart hub SH40J firmware r5.16.1-R-2011329-PROD-1 ""
So it is the current EE Smart Hub 7 Pro, and if you seen the version you quote above then YES you have been FW Updated to the latest version, and as explained from the linked post below, and as the table has now been updated then the rollout is completed to all off the EE Pro hubs....
EE Hub firmware versions - The EE Community
FW: r5.16.1-R-2011329-PROD-1 and the gui is at App Version 3.17.5 20/08/2026 this i posted back showing date that the first user received it as the rollout began. As it continues to happen if you can text the following to EE but you do need to be home for when they call you back, HELP to 66033 this will start EE off checking your connection with there HomeView+ test software, i would expect them to see Wireless reported as working as you see it say's all switched on but there will only be your Lan connected devices and you will have zero Wireless WiFi connected as there is NO signal output being transmitted for what ever you have setup, ie like EE-123456 main/comp/guest and off course the FREE EE WiFi also.
You can also see the full state the hub is in with YOUR lan connection at https://192.168.1.254 on the web manager software.

@rabl Glad you found it easy to get done, bit off a Chicken / Egg with your fault as to Hub, FW update etc just too much going on at the one time. Keep the Forum informed if you care, if anyone else pops up with a similar issue will let you know.👍
