WiFi controls when using Velop nodes

Have just moved WiFi from BT to EE and was surprised that my kids mobile devices/laptops were auto connected to a ‘VelopSetup’ WiFi network.

The new EE WiFi network still appears under our old BT network name when searching, but there is also now a ‘VelopSetup’ that appears.

I’ve added all kids devices to parental controls, but the restriction don’t work unless devices are connected to the old ‘BT’ network. If a device is connected to the new ‘VelopSetup’ network, the restrictions don’t seem to work.

 Any ideas please?

@MacAttack888 Which EE Router do you now have, the setup process when installing a new EE router has the option to take the Existing old setup ssid and password, replace what was on the EE router with those values and make changeover a lot easier for the user, but never heard of it making anything else. So no idea where the VelopSetup that you see is generated.

Creating groups. and adding those that you wish to be in the group is the preferred way for parental control and scheduling. There is a help page on the EE site if you need it.

Do you have a LinkSys mesh system?

What is the name of the EE BB plan are you on including its speed? What EE router & WiFi extenders do you have (read label or post a pix)?

@MacAttack888   The "Migrate" function on the app automatically changes the SSID and WiFi password to your old one. You can revert to the EE original settings with a factory reset. If you stick with the old BT ones make sure you keep a note of the password in case you add new devices in future.

As for the Velop, if you have the one connected to EE Hub set in Router mode, then it will do what it is doing, unless you also put it in the same Group as your children's devices.

Setting it as an Access Point should avoid the need to do this .
