Been on the Busiest Home bundle for nearly a year, with the WiFi 7 router. All has been working well up until the last few months.
I have a lot of smart devices, these all connect to the 2.4ghz network, recently (in the last two months) devices randomly disconnect, there seems no pattern to it, and to make it worse the router will show the device as connected, the status light on the device can show its connected, but apps will say disconnected. This is across a whole host of different devices, Redsea, Neptune, Meross, Octopus etc. So I know its an issue with a particular brand.
I’ve recently changed the 2.4ghz channel from smart to a fixed channel, this seems to help, but then the router will randomly drop everything and I have to mess about changing channels to then go back to original channel to get everything reconnected.
I’ve had a new router delivered, that was great for around 18hrs, but its now doing exactly the same thing.
In total I have around 75 devices connected, which is below the max number the router support from what I can tell. Wondering if anyone else is having similar? And if so, if anyone has found a fix?
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

@Huggons1 The EE Smarthub+ suffered badly for well over a year, same time that the Pro has now been out for it's release last Sept2024! It was well by that point that the Plus had to be sorted out somewhat better and the Ratio is well in excess Plus to Pro. So the flagship has to take a back seat at present!

Agreed, I have a lot of older 2.4 WiFi devices, heating, garden lights, cameras etc that was overwhelming the router (imo) and causing issues like yourself, it drove me mad with devices dropping off the network and devices like WiFi power points failing to work, but since fitting a WiFi 7 (EAP 772) AP upstairs on a direct cable to the WiFi 7 Router the issues have gone ?
I can only assume there are inherent issues with the router on the WiFi 7 Compatible Network as I have had no issues on 5ghz or 6ghz.
I turned off 6ghz on the AP upstairs and left 2.4ghz & 5ghz on only as with the 6ghz on the AP I was getting issues again on the 2.4 channel ?? This leads me to believe as a guess that maybe there is a saturation affecting the 2.4 channel as traffic was going through the EAP772 on the 2.4 channel perfectly?
I have left this working perfectly for the past week now with no dropouts on the 2.4 channel

I think it is a very poor show by EE. My Smart hub plus has received 5 updates so far in 2025, whereas the smart hub pro has received just the one. Reportedly EE now deal with router firmware in house, having a dedicated team. Why on earth then do EE make it virtually impossible to report bugs and then choose not to address them in a timely manner. This in my opinion inexcusable and poor culture. An example is the smart hub pro bug, when setting a fixed Wi-Fi channel. I reported the bug to them last year. EE made the whole experience nigh on impossible, even when evidence was produced.

I’ve given up, spent a small fortune on a replacement mesh kit. And is if by magic, my wallet is much lighter, but my internet now works as it should do!
When I get chance I’ll be writing to them to log a formal complaint, it won’t change anything but at least I’ll feel better.

@Tinbum73 Think positive, at least you done it now, and happiness is way better than frustration!👍

I didn't forget about it, however I haven't received it I didn't add it to the list. To date it is only the OP that has reported receiving it and others have commented that they are still on the February 2025 firmware version: r2.64.7-R-1303938-PROD-1

They say when you select the bandwidth do it wired and each time you change it repeat the previous step.
It seems best to set everything via a wired way. Then test the seep wired to the modem then do a speed test wired to the extender after that do the test on WIFI and compare. If you getting low speed wired direct then its 100% its the cable coming into the house get this sorted and you will have a stable connection.
Let me know your speed test as I haven't opened mine as I'm thinking to just send it back as I don't want the issues the last time I tried to switch.
Good Luck
