Weak Wifi

When given "The Sell" on the transfer to EE, and the Smart hub 7 plus, we mentioned that due to the construction of our house the WiFi signal struggles to penetrate the walls to other rooms, we currently had a WiFi booster from the previous internet provider - could we still connect that to the new smart hub 7?

We were told, verbatim, "You should be able to, but you shouldn't need it as the smart hub 7 has 4 boosters built in"

Those boosters appear to be relatively small as the coverage appears to be worse than with our previous supplier - so much so that it won't reach the booster in the location we need it!

We're also finding that the WiFi will just randomly drop out for any device at any time, no rhyme or reason and if we leave the house and re-enter, we have to reset our WiFi connection on our phones and devices.

We're new customers to EE and at the moment we're regretting it.

How can I maximise the coverage of the smart hub 7 with the provided cat5 cable?

How can I stop randomly being booted off of my own network?

And how can I seamlessly reconnect when I come home rather than be treated to the proverbial cold shoulder by our WiFi?

What WiFi Booster do you have? There are some that work with any ISP & others that only work with their originating ISP. The EE SH 7+ has no particular boosters built in but EE does sell the WiFi Extenders 7 + specifically for it.

I should think the 4  "boosters" you were told it had are really 4 aerials.

@SMeek90 To start with there is NO built in Boosters in any off the EE Standard ISP Hubs, 2nd the higher you go in the wifi connection range 4/5/6/7 each one get's a little less distance throw out with the wireless signal and then you get to all the compatibility issues to boot. Get your hub as central to the spread area, or decide it's were it is now and that is where we need it, after this you need to look at wifi booster's or mesh addon control, either get EE's version or go third party.

If your device will not Auto reconnect you need to work out is it wifi off the hub or is it my device that has the issue.

What did you have before the ill fated move, and was it all working hunky dory before that move?

If you need to relocate the EE Smart Hub 7 Plus, then a longer cable of the length you require just purchase, EE will not be supplying you with a cat 5 cable, there minimum would be cat5e. The link below may help you out also.

@SMeek90  You also want the booster half way between the router and the location needed for it.   If the booster is in that location then your devices should also pick the router connection.
