WPS button flashing

andytkho

I rarely use WPS as its a potential security issue. So surprised that on its own I noticed the WPS button on the bottom left of the router was flashing blue. I did not activate it. So worried

Router is "Smart Hub" the charcoal looking one. I only noticed it once when the room was dark so the blue flashing light was obvious. I don't know if it happens frequently or regularly as up to then I didn't think to notice, I will keep an eye on it from now on. No one has access to the router ie the WPS button would not have been pressed by anyone else. Given my concern I did log in as admin to look at what devices are connected and after lots of wondering what this or that device was - some IP addresses were not obvious as to what they were - I am reasonably assured that I can account for all devices connected to the router at the moment. But I was bothered when I first noticed it as I rarely use WPS when connecting devices - I did only once in the set up when it was a pain to connect a printer. Any hypotheses eg router reboot. If I connected devices using WPS originally, those devices now connected should retain the connection if I switch off the WPS function on the router right ?

@andytkho  hi and welcome to the forum.

Which router do you have? Is it doing this all the time? Or did you just spot it it? Does anyone else have access to it?

Depending on your answers, it could just be something simple like the router had just rebooted.

Sounds faulty. In any case you can switch WPS OFF in the router's WiFi settings & then you'll know whether it's faulty.
