UPNP on EE Smart HUB (SH31B) not working

Hello all

I have some Apps that use UPNP to Setup Access through the Router.

However, it seems that UPNP on the EE Smart HUB does not work.

In order to get the Apps to Allow Access through the Router I need to Disable UPNP on the Smart HUB and Create a Firewall Rule for the App, again, on the Smart HUB, once this is done then the App works fine.

Is anyone else having Issues with UPNP on the EE Smart HUB?

Thanks in advance

Kevin

@Kncowans   I don't think you are the first to report this issue/feature!

Same issue here. I've just switched from BT Home Hub 2 which was working fine and with this new EE Smart Hub, I've got networking issues due to UPnP not working.

@MCook0210 You can just use your BT Router, swap out the EE!

I would but support told me that I have to send them that one back or they will bill me for it lol. Might just pop the new one in the returns box instead and see if they notice 🙂

@MCook0210   If you tell support that the new router does not do things you need it to do and say you need to keep the BT router they should let you do that.

@MCook0210 There is 60 day's before the old router needs to be returned, so put it back on and asses what it does to the network.

I plugged the BT Home Hub 2 back in and everything is working fine again (I have no port forwarding, DMZ's etc. setup on it, just good old UPnP). I'll ring support again tomorrow and plead my case for the BT router.

I spoke to them already today and they were no help at all, basically told me that theres nothing they could do and it was probably all 4 of my devices that were the issue...No offer of a replacement hub, no checking of firmware versions and no offer to keep the BT hub even though I asked for that, it was 8:55pm though so probs they were keen to clock off.

It seems like the only fix is cancel or buy your own router. 'Broadband built for gamers' - good luck mapping your ports for a PS5 or Xbox without UPnP working.

@MCook0210 Replacement hub is not going to do you any good what so ever, do not do any gamming so care squat about the UPNP working or not, have not had a single issue that has had to be addressed router wise.
