Trying to notify EE that I’m leaving

Looking for recommendations - I think I’ve tried everything…

My broadband contract ran out some time ago and I have been mulling over whether to leave EE after several years. The moment I got the out of contract message my broadband has been erratic to say the least with incredibly poor speeds. I received an email saying my bill would rise to £38 but in the two months since have been charged £42 instead. I received another email saying that the engineer was coming in a few days to install fibre optic - to my old address where the cables aren’t laid. So I’ve decided to cancel but every time I try and call there is a thirty minute waitlist or more, with a two year old and newborn and job it’s not easy to stay on a line for that long. I tried contacting twitter although apparently they can’t find my account - which is hilarious given how much I’m being badgered to stay. Any recommendations appreciated - my next bill is due on the 22nd so I’m mulling over whether to pay that then cancel the direct debit and stop using the service

@craigo127 You can cancel as your contract is up, but you do have to call EE CS, that is then only 14 days you have to give them to cancel, DO not just cancel your DD it is not the way to do it. IF you decide to do it that way, NO other ISP will be allowed to take your service as EE will block the line takeover until your cancel ends.

Aren't you intending to go with another ISP at your home? If you are, as long as they are also on the BT system, order BB from them & your EE BB will be auto cancelled when they take the line over.

Not true! A migration to another OR based ISP will auto cancel the EE BB contract w/out user having to give notice to EE.

@craigo127 : Don't understand that. If you're gonna talk about other ISPs, then don't tell OP to give notice to EE but instead go straight to other ISP.

@XRaySpeX It was the OP that said they were going to cancel.

@craigo127 As @XRaySpeX has pointed out, if you do wish to go to another ISP contract, then as long as they are one of the ISP's that use the OR line like EE, contact or sign up with them, they will take over the line and inform EE that they are doing so, you pay up front with any isp so normally there is a refund due at the end of it all, and this is returned to you once it is all done and dusted and if you were paying by DD they just return to your account so you do not close the DD until this is all done.

If you do not receive the e-mails from both new/old isp's then keep an eye on it.
