Tied to contract I wasn't made aware of and never gave consent

Back in October 2024 my BT Broadband contract was ending, I had an email from EE so contacted them on 17 October 2024. I spoke to a young guy who explained that EE were taking over BT, I had no issue with that. He explained to me that EE could give me a Broadband Package, including the full works tv and digital phone, it was more expensive than we'd had with BT but he told me that after the initial 3 months I could cancel the tv package, and drop the cost back down again. I now discover I can't because I'm tied into a 2 year contract.
Circumstances are changing and paying nearly £200 a month for broadband, tv etc is something we could do without but, it appears I can't get out of it until October this year. I never, EVER agreed to this!! We don't have ANYTHING on a contract for this reason, the moment I hear the word 'contract' I say no, but this guy never mentioned it being any kind of contract.
He told me that after 3 months I could remove the tv package if I wanted to, and I assumed (stupidly) that it would just be a rolling direct debit that I would be able to cancel if circumstances changed. I would NEVER have agreed to going into a two year contract because my husbands work is so volatile.
I received no "contract summary" or "pre contract information" I literally received NOTHING after the phone call. I never agreed to a contract and neither myself or husband signed anything either.
Can EE legally do this??  And is there anyway I change the contract early without incurring extra costs? I will be recording future calls!!

How do you know of these specific docs if you never received them?

You can make a formal complaint to EE & if you don't get satisfaction after 8 weeks or come to a deadlock you can take it to EE's ADR provider. See Complaints code of practice and here is the Complaints Form .

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Home Broadband & Home Phone or Option 2 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

I had nothing in the main post, and in my email system I have done several searches and there is nothing. Email to tell me my BT contract is ending, the next email is from EE to tell me my equipment is on the way, then the next one is my bill for the first month. NOTHING about any contract

@Sunbearuk72 Email has this heading if that is any use for your search etc "" Thanks for choosing EE, James "".

Did change from another ISP to EE and few e-mails etc at the start, may be slightly different for the BT/EE transfer as it is all kind off Internal transfer policy!

No still nothing. I search for that and all I get are Martin Lewis email spam.
