Having wrestles with the EE provided router for months I’ve decided to connect a third party router.
I have a TP-link AX5400 (Archer73) and i’m connecting it to the Nokia ONT-010-G-T that came with the EE router. I’m connecting my WAN port on the TP-Link (coloured blue) to the yellow 2.4Ghz port on the ONT modem.
I’ve set the TP-Link to PPOE and put in my details name@emailaddress.com. I’ve tried both adding the password and leaving it blank, neither connects.
Is there something I am missing? Is this set up viable or do I need a different modem or ??

@JRS15 The details you have put are wrong, will copy the required link below for you to setup the Tp-Link router. Use the Full Fibre, 1st option.
How Do I Use My Own Router for Home Broadband? | Help | EE

@JRS15 The correct settings as outlined in the link are:
Connection type: | Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) |
---|---|
Broadband username or login name: | bthomehub@btbroadband.com |
Broadband password: | BT (or leave blank) |
Authentication: | CHAP |
DNS: | Auto or Obtain from ISP (we'll automatically provide these when you connect) |

@JRS15 You have set up good, wan port on the Tp-Link to the Ethernet port connection on the ONT. EE router back in the box, keep it in case you need to test/call EE etc, no third party help, they and most isp's only support there own equipment.
Pictures that you post, all need to be approved, so you know, there is no instant viewing....

@JRS15 your pictures include your email address so will not be approved.
Do you have the option to set the router up on a browser?
Why are you not using the settings in the links above?

I don’t understand which ones are wrong.
I’m logging in using username and password and have selected PPOE. I don’t seem to have the option for the others.
I think I can access via an internet connect but I can’t establish one to do this.

@JRS15 Have a look at section 4.3 of the manual.
Using a browser will make it much easier, although also access to more settings which you appear not to show on your pics.

The PPPoE Username should be bthomehub@btbroadband.com not your own email addy & the pwd is BT or blank.
