Tado Heating doesn't work with new Smart Hub Pro

Hi, just got the smart hub pro which is great, but now my heating doesn't work with Tado.

My tado now only shows the power light as being 'on' and the cloud and router LED are off.

The new EE Smart Hub Pro only has 4 x 2.5gbps ethernet ports.

From what I've read online, the Tado bridge isn't compatible with these newer 2.5gbps ports, and I need to get an adapter/splitter. Can anyone advise which splitter/adapter I actually need?

I already tried ordering a new tado inernet bridge with a new ethernet cable, which ruled out that being the problem. It works fine on the Smart Hub Plus but not the new one.

Thanks

UPDATE: I ordered the TP-Link LS1005G 5 port switch and this fixed it as suggested here, thanks!

I did order the VBESTLIFE 2 port switch first and this didn't work, so avoid that one if anyone has the same issue.

@JakeyB2 You could try a 5-port Gbit unmanaged switch from TP-Link or other manufacturers to see if it helps, Cost around £15 from Amazon, until you try you wont know.  TL-SG105S works of 5 volt, and if you need a usb adapter cable then its a Lindy usb a male to dc-plug adapter 3.5mm/1.35mm No.70266

Thanks, I just ordered the VBESTLIFE 2 Port Gigabit Network Switch, 10/100/1000Mbps before you said that from Amazon. Hopefully this one will work, but if not will try the TP-link.

Otherwise I guess I'll need to change heating or router!

Thanks

@JakeyB2 Good you are up and running, have taken a quick look at your first you tried, don't understand what it is or what it does, seems quite vague description wise and kind off multi purpose type device, but certainly would not call it an Ethernet switch. Its good to know, suspect some low speed devices may have trouble switching the interface router wise.👍👍

To connect your Tado internet bridge to the EE Smart Hub Pro, you are correct that the older Tado bridge may not support the 2.5 Gbps ethernet ports directly. The solution is to use a network switch or a media converter that can downshift the connection speed to 1 Gbps or 100 Mbps, which the Tado bridge can handle.

Here are some options you can consider:

1. **Gigabit Ethernet Switch**: You can use a standard gigabit switch (1 Gbps) that has multiple ports. Connect the Smart Hub Pro to the switch, and then connect the Tado bridge to the switch. This will allow the Tado bridge to operate properly without needing to directly connect to the 2.5 Gbps ports.

- **Example Model**: TP-Link TL-SG105 (5-Port Gigabit Switch)

2. **Ethernet to Ethernet Media Converter**: If you want a more direct solution, you can use an Ethernet media converter that converts the 2.5 Gbps signal to a 1 Gbps signal.

- **Example Model**: TP-Link MC111CS (1 Gbps Media Converter)

3. **Ethernet Adapter**: If the Tado bridge has a specific requirement for the type of connection, ensure you check if there's an adapter that can help you convert the 2.5 Gbps signal effectively.

### Steps to Connect:
1. Connect the Smart Hub Pro to the switch or media converter using an Ethernet cable.
2. Connect the Tado bridge to the switch or media converter.
3. Power on all devices and check the connection status.

Make sure to check the specifications of the devices you choose to ensure compatibility with your existing setup. If you are still having issues after setting this up, double-check the Tado bridge's firmware and ensure that it is up-to-date.

I had the same Tado problem so tried plugging it into the Smart WiFi pro extender of which there are two ports on the back of the device and I found that this worked for me and Tado bridge connected. Whilst this solution might not work for all given where you may position the extender hub, it's worked fine for me and without the need to buy any new equipment.

Thanks for the advice , I had the same problem, plugged the Tado bridge into the WiFi Pro extender  and it is now working perfectly 👍
