Swopping Plusnet for EE router

wuz
Visitor

I am moving and it is not clear on the day of transfer whether it is better to switch over in the morning or should i wait for Plusnet to switch off their service? I presume if it gets near the end of the day I should just switch them.

Anybody has done this switch, lets me know what you did and whether there were any problems?

Thanks in advance for any help.

When I tried to log on to Plusnet at around 09:45 on the day of the changeover (about a week ago)  it had already happened, however the home phone still had dial tone.

I swapped over the routers and was able to use EE straight away (the home phone still had dial tone)

I unplugged my answer machine from the landline and plugged it into the green socket on the router, as shown and it was working on the new digital connection.

Later that day the original phone had lost its dial tone so I found a 2 way splitter and connected that to the new system.

There appeared to be an overlap period when both phone systems were working.

Broadband and phone are working fine

have you been moved to digtal voice if so you may are you on copper part copper or full fibre ? @KeithN37

if you have been moved to fibre and still using this type of socket or similar if you have  it connected via the bt faceplate  then remove the  from phone socket from here then connect to the digital voce socket on the router usually green plug

@wuz Switch over when the PN connection stops, there is just no option if it does not go as expected, you just need to contact EE CS or PN to see why, been a few PN transfer post's from 2 weeks down to 4-5 day's because of mistakes made, they are on the Forum if you wish to find. DV switch over can be anything from 24-48hrs for incoming/outgoing calls to transition from one to the other and one does fade away then the other goes active. Any longer than 48hrs get onto EE to have that checked out. Couple off examples to help if you need.

Yes, I've got Digital Voice

As I said, the phones are now on the green socket and working perfectly.

There was a period when both the new DV phone system (green socket) and old analog (wall socket) were both receiving dial tone

The transition was painless. (so far)
