Some devices (such as PS5 and Google TV) require a full shut down to connect

Dear All,

Since moving from standard GFast BT to EE full fibre, I’ve had nothing but problems.

To try and solve the issues, I did a full factory reset on everything and now, I’ve got a new issues.

for some reason, certain devices need a full shut down and restart to connect to the WiFi, I can no longer connect automatically out of sleep mode.

some even require me to reconnect to the router manually but entering the password again!

any ideas? Driving me mad!

@RandomUser22 What is the current router that you are using?

Hi!

I have the latest EE Smart Hub Pro, with two of the EE Smart Hub Plus boosters.

@RandomUser22 So the G.fast move has nothing to do with it as you have changed the router. Would that be correct?

Well, I’ve gone from copper broadband (gfast) to full fibre.

but yes, apart from that you are correct.

@RandomUser22 Are you using only the main wi-fi with wireless connected devices, You may not think so but you have went from probably a wi-fi5 device to a full blown wi-fi7 and now all the older are bitching with the change, it is not an apples to apples swap out. Did you move from a BT Smarthub2 doing all the G.fast to the Now EE Pro router?

Take one step back and explain why you did and your thoughts that the factory reset would sort it all out.  You had problems for the first part off the posting. Not knowing what was before to what now does not help, If you wish to list the issues 1 by 1, it may be easier to pin them down and knock off the list. And first has to be got the Pro and the Smart wireless all setup and they look to be all working good, if that is not true say so...

@RandomUser22 If you have the Pro router, then first part that you say your extender booster's are the Plus model, get those off the network by powering them off, Pro Router/Pro smart wireless, the plus smart wireless has been proposed to be working with but verdict will still be out to if fully functional. Hardware details below if you wish to confirm.

Thanks for your continued support Jim.

on the boosters, I got the device wrong, they are two ‘Smart WiFi Pro’ devices.

the main issue I was having since the installion of my new fibre were speed issues, which appears to have been fixed via a full factory reset.

however, now, certain devices are being disconnected from the WiFi whilst in rest mode (PS5 and GoogleTV examples).

@RandomUser22 Those devices do you have them Hardwired to Ethernet connections, main router or to smart wireless, thanks for correcting the devices, you have.

The Pro router suffers from Ethernet Port delay confirmation just like the plus, a simple switch between sort's that out with no problem. Let us know what and how you are connected!

Edit:- you may have to do this below depending on your answer so linked the first part.

Hi @RandomUser22

To add to @JimM11  posts.

On the PS5 you can change the settings to connect to one frequency say 5ghz  if a non Pro machine this improves connectivity.

On the Google TV it's normal to drop off and say it is not connected, then it connects maybe in a min or two (my TCL TV does).

There are many free WiFi signal checking apps on the apps store and these are really useful when checking coverage around the house and making changes to channels and frequencies.

Thanks
