Hi. I have just purchased the 1.6gb package. All ok other than the speed between desktop pc and router (located next to each other). Have spoken with EE tech support and they state that the 3 Ethernet ports on the router are 2.5gb indicating that my pc and/or cables are the issue. My only concern before i upgrade my pc with an upgraded Ethernet port is that both Copilot and ChatGPT report the router ports being restricted to 1 GB. Can anyone confirm results for the ports in a real life scenario? Thanks
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Update. I bought a TP -Link 2.5gb PCIe Network adapter and a Cat 6a Ethernet Cable. Total cost £30. Pleased to say it worked. My PC now has a wired connection speed of 1.65gb. What I have found is that all other devices in my house (TVs, Fire sticks, Fire TV Cube , Laptops etc) all have their ethernet ports maxed out at 100mb. For now, without buying adapters for everything, I am relying on wifi which gets better speeds. Thanks for everyone`s replies.

@PhilMarshall1 Your ONT will be swapped out for a faster one from OR Openreach with a 2.5Gb/s Ethernet port on it, and as long as the wan port off the EE Hub or a Third party if you are using it is at least 2.5Gb/s then you can go the max but you do need at least one Lan port at least 2.5Gb/s to match the PC Nic speed.....
If your PC has only 1Gb/s NIC port on it then will go NO faster than that unless you use combined wifi/ethernet mode off operation.
The hardware is linked below for EE.....

@PhilMarshall1 Although nice to have the 1.6Gb/s speed package, you will need to be a very heavy downloader to utilise it anywhere near the potential, so in a day to day just don't expect it to always be up near that speed 100% of the time!
FF500 and lowest sustained speed due to the external network being real busy was 200Mb/s there is zero you can do about it!

That is not universally true. The EE Smart Hub 7 Pro has 4 x 2.5 Gig LAN ports.
Wired connections 4 x 2.5GigE LAN
1 x 2.5GigE WAN
1 x FXS (for voice)
1 x USB3 (power only)

Thanks. The only time I expect to see the difference is on the big steam downloads. My thoughts are that if I have bought the 1.65 package it would be good to see it in action at some point if not all the time

Thanks. This confirms what the EE tech guys said. As per my replies above I have taken all of your replies and decided to upgrade parts of my pc. Cheers

@PhilMarshall1 No issues, just watch steam downloads, they have the tendency to display in MB/s so multiply by 8 for the conversion factor, ie 100MB/s = 800Mb/s
