Just wondering how many Smart WiFi Pro extenders you can get as part of the EE BB subscription.  I currently have a Smart Hub Pro and one WiFi Pro extender but think I could do with one more to ensure full coverage.

@nelix01 If you have plugged it in if you look at the web manager, the connection type were you have N/A should now say Ethernet, that would be the cable backhaul method, if you are too close to the EE Router then you may not manage to get a device to connect to the smart wireless, devices should always try best they can to get direct on the router but they alone make the decision where they want to go.

Rule of thumb, think off the router as a 60' circle, and you want the mesh to intersect so you go 25' away from the router your now on it's edge, another 20' away that's were you want the extender to be, then you take into account all the things that block the signal, doors/walls/tiles/floor's, if you don't get good mesh you move the smart wireless a little closer to the router.

@JimM11 Thanks for the information.

This morning, I have unplugged from the main hub and moved the smart wifi extender to around 10 feet away from the hub.  Logged into the hub manager and get the same thing (MAC address removed this time):

I’ve also swapped the two WiFi extenders, but the same one always misses the connection type.

I've reset the extender again, holding the reset button for 20 seconds and added it back as a new extender.  Same issue persists.  Beginning to think I might have a faulty unit.

Thanks.

@nelix01

This has happened to me before several times before usually after a firmware update, I usually fix it by restarting the hub from inside the EE mobile app. My two extenders then show strong signal instead of one of them showing “no signal”.

Thanks for the help with this.  I forgot to mention that I also factory reset both wifi extenders after my last post.  When setting back up again, I set up the 'Faulty' unit first and it connected no problem.  When setting up the second unit, it then showed up as no connection.

Finally, after reading @Colesey post, I reset the main hub from the App and what do you know, success!!  Both units now showing as connected to the main hub with devices connected to them.

@nelix01 Well done, it's whatever it takes to get it all setup. sounds like the EE Router got hung up with the settings when connecting up the Mesh, not surprised by that fact but good that you noted the steps required to get it all operational. If you get time could you add if better to wireless setup the units, or if Ethernet is the best way. Both should work either way but would suspect that the Ethernet Connecting method would be quicker setup wise, but may / may not be the best way.

@JimM11 I used wireless setup via Admin in Hub Manager.

@nelix01 Perfect, thanks for replying all this rapid FW updates are a potential issue, noticed it with the EE Smarthub+ they just did, and last update is a piece off Tosh, maybe a Router Reset to Factory is the way to go and square it all up.👍

My previous provider supplied me with an Eero Pro6E set-up.  I was very impressed with ease of set-up, App and general performance.  Unfortunately, I had to give them back 🤣
