Smart WiFi Plus

Hello everyone,

I have been with EE for years for mobile and broadband. I have just signed up for another 24 months of 150mbps fibre.

I am going to be sent the latest EE Smart Hub Plus. I noticed EE also offer for £10 a month Smart WiFi Plus where you can get an additional WiFi box to help boost the signal in a mesh format. It says if one isn't enough, they will send you another one to help give decent coverage.

I currently have a very expensive Linksys Mesh system which is really not good, it doesn't work well with Apple Homekit and causes a lot of issues. I have wasted a lot of money on a mesh system which isn't great so £10 a month is quite a lot for me.

I have a few questions regarding the EE Smart WiFi Plus.

  1. Do you pay £10 per month for the entire 24 month (£240) contact duration?
  2. I noticed some people are selling them online. Would one of these work if I bought one and added it on?
  3. Can they use ethernet backhaul? I notice from the photo on the EE page, it has one ethernet port on the back. Most of my bedrooms (the problem areas for WiFi) have ethernet which all goes down to a switch downstairs which then has one ethernet cable going to the EE Router.

Thanks in advance. 😀

  1. I don't believe it's £10 pm any longer if it's not included in your BB plan. Instead you can now buy 1 to 3 Smart WiFi+ for £100 outright. Some BB plans, Full Works & Busiest Home, include it.
  2. Yes, as long as they are in working condition.
  3. Yes, they can be Ethernet connected.

Hi @talksr86,

I recently got one of the Smart WiFi Plus devices through EE. When I called EE they initially said it would be £10 a month however were able to upgrade me to the Broadband Full Works package (I was previously on Broadband Essentials) for less than adding the Smart WiFi Plus separately.

Full Works also includes the Smart Hybrid Connect and other features such as Cyber Security. I’ve actually used the Smart Hybrid Connect already as we had an outage for about 30 minutes the other day.

Anyway, always worth a call to see if you can get something similar!

To try and answer your questions

1. As I upgraded to Full Works this was a new 24 month contract for me, I’m not sure what happens when adding the Smart WiFi Plus separately.

2. Sorry, I don’t know this.

3. Yes, I’m currently using an Ethernet connection from the Smart Hub to Smart WiFi device.
