I have a Samsung smart TV, connected directly to the router through an Ethernet cable
When the TV is in standby mode it loses its connection. On turning the TV on, it takes 20-30 seconds or so to reestablish the connection
This did NOT happen previously with an EE router - the problem is only now I have the new SmartHub which was installed when I upgraded to full fibre
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Hi @Patrick_B
You are using a mobile broadband router or fixed line.
Thanks

Thank you Jim
From the post you referenced, I take it you are saying the issue is with the Ethernet ports on the router, and that these take 20 seconds or so to wake up each time.
Q1: Have I understood this correctly?
You suggest that maybe a future firmware update will solve this problem.
Q2: How do we request this from the EE engineers?
Meanwhile:
The TV can use a wireless connection so I will try that tomorrow and report back

@Patrick_B Correct, that is why i referenced the EE Smarthub+, think the Pro is a little quicker for the Ethernet, you just mentioned the Smarthub but did say new, so unclear of which version but will copy the link below. Been like this and i have mine since Mar 2024, been a few FW updates, NEVER been fixed yet and impending update out now, not got it yet but on the check list which is one of many. Forget requesting unless you wish to do so but complaint would be best.
TV's wi-fi can not be the best at times so it is a try and see situation for you and always best is wired Ethernet for sure, £20 buy's the switch it solves the problem because the switch is up all of the time, and the TV will probably connect instantly to the switch, just like your previous EE router which was not a problem. One has just got to do what is required to eliminate problems, not everything is guaranteed to work 100% of the time. Link shows the newish and current router range details etc. HTH👍

Well done @JimM11
You truly deserve the status of Brilliant Contributor
The problem does indeed appear to be the Ethernet ports in the hub
As a workaround, I've changed the TV to use wireless successfully. It's very close to the hub and so gets a good strong signal
And now I know I can, as you suggested, insert a switch if needed in future and go back to using Ethernet
Many thanks

@Patrick_B Glad you got it sorted out, just got to keep knocking them off one by one.👍
