Hello I've recently joined EE broadband with the fiber 67 essential package is it possible to upgrade to EE's hub pro to get better wifi signal and take advantage of the pro hubs wfi 6e and 7 signal?

@popmaster109 You are able to get the EE wi-fi 7 package addon, but it is only offered on select FF packages! The Essential fiber 67 that you have, looks like to be a fttc product so it would not be possible to have it. The EE Wi-Fi pro does NOT support a VDSL modem interface and cannot be connected to an OR Master socket arrangement.

No, EE's Essential Fibre 67 is FTTC VDSL2 & so is not compatible with the SH Pro w/out a separate VDSL modem.

Hi jim many thanks for your quick reply and the information you have given me would it be possible to put the SHP into bridge mode? And purchase a 3rd party mesh system OR

Is it possible to purchase a 3rd party router and connect it to the EE SHP disable the SHP wi-fi and use the 3rd party router?

OR is there any equipment you can recommend to connect any mesh devices to the SHP? Or Those mains plug in wfi extension devices that have 1 or 2 ethernet ports so I could ethernet wire say my amazon FireCube to the EE SHP router?

Many thanks Nick

  1. No, the SH+ cannot be put in bridge mode.
  2. Yes, you may connect another router to the SH+ & disable the WiFi on the SH+.
  3. If you have DV you cannot replace the SH+.

@popmaster109 If you are still setting the bar at wi-fi 7 mesh, as long as you can connect the primary mesh router to the EE router assuming that is what you have by an Ethernet then go that way, it will be expensive to do and only if you are looking at increasing the internal network speed up, the slowness of the fttc connection is your main issue, if i was you would drop the expectation down to wi-fi 6 mesh, and you will find way more favourable pricing for sure. You have to make the choice, if you wish to have guidance with what to look at then post back.

Hi Jim, Once again many thanks for your quick reply and the information you have provided me with,  I see and understand that it's my fttc (ADSL) speed (max 74mbps) that's the issue so yes please any advice you can give me to maximise my internal wifi speed signal strength would be very useful indeed,  ATM with talktalk I'm using a  Tp-link AV1300 Gigabit Passthrough Powerline Extender and then ethernet cable to my amazon FireCube Gen3,  is this the type of thing you're talking about?  Any advice on how I can maximise my internal wifi speed would be very gratefully appreciated

Sorry, what is your issue? If it's just that you can't have the SH Pro as per your OP, it not your BB speed that is the issue but that you're on FTTC. What EE router do you have (read its label or post a pix)?
