Smart Hub plus with Yale Home Alarm Hub

Can anybody help me? I've recently purchased a Yale Home alarm system, when I came to install it I fell at the first hurdle, (connect the alarm hub to the router via the ethernet cable provided, switch on and wait 30s for the green light),  NO GREEN LIGHT. I contacted Yale they said you need DNS ports 5222 and 8765 open on your router, I called EE CS they said its nothing we can help you with, the router is set up for plug n play, I went back to Yale they said, maybe a fault with the alarm hub, take it back to Costco where I purchased it from. After more research I tried EE CS one more time (they were really helpful) and they suggested trying the Yale hub on a friends router, I want next door and plugged the Yale hub into there Virgin router, within 10sec a green light came on. I went back to EE CS, explained all this again and was told maybe it my EE router. So new router posted out to me with great expectations, swapped it over and you've guessed it same as before. I've been back to Yale they asked me to go back to EE and ask for a firmware update for the router, back to EE they told me to switch the router off for 4 hours, I've done that, its now back on with no joy and I'm now no further forward. Please Help. One more thing, these alarm systems are also sold in the EE online shop and don't seem to be compatible with the EE router.

Hi @Ru55w

Welcome to the community.

Have you tried the steps on this port forwarding help page? It may help you open those ports that you need.

Hi Chris. thanks for the reply.  I've just tried the port forwarding steps, I can get to no5 "choose Select a device and find the device" it stops there as the router is not "talking"to the alarm hub, its as if nothing is plugged into the ethernet port on the back of the router

@Ru55w They do not make it easy, the uPnP is broken, with the Yale connected to the router on the ethernet, open a web browser ideally on a PC/Laptop if you have one, type http://192.168.1.254 to open up the web page to the EE Router, click on the My Network, it will show you devices connected both Wireless and Ethernet to the router, work out what the Yale is on the Ethernet port left hand side, all the details will show if the Ethernet port is up, IT takes 30 seconds for a device to show up when Ethernet connected. Will link a picture previous and hope that it shows what to look for. Hope you can see the picture...

I'm having exactly the same issue! It happened to me last year and i managed to do the port forwarding rule but this weekend the router broke and have been sent a new one...i've gone to do the port forwarding rule but i just can't locate the device!

Hi Jim. Thanks for the reply. unfortunately when I plug the hub into the router it's not detected by the router, I spoke to a guy on the EE helpline and he said he could see the ethernet cable but nothing else. After a lot more calls to both EE and Yale it was suggested to take the alarm back to Costco for a replacement, however I was asked by EE CS if I could try it on a friends router, which I did, within 30 seconds of plugging it into the virgin router I got the green light that id been after (so its not the alarm hub), back to EE CS, so now EE have got a Tech guy coming out on Thursday between 4 and 6 fingers crossed he can come up with a solution. I'll report back with the outcome in due course, just in case it helps anybody else.

Right ,finally got somewhere with this issue. the engineer came out on Friday, he checked everything and couldn't get the router to "talk" to the Yale hub, he then tried another hub (a BT smart hub not the EE plus) and that seemed to work he told me to order a new BT hub not the EE one. It seems that the EE smart + is not compatible with the Yale smart alarm. I've now got the BT hub but I just need to speak with the Yale tech team for the settings, at least I can now see the device in the router network. Thank you all for you help trying to sort this issue. Russ

@Ru55w Just incase anyone reads this post it looks like the YALE alarm is NOT compatible and struggles with the EE router on Ethernet connection which can be for a few reason's the BT Smarthub2 is an option to go back too.

@Ru55w  out of interest, can you give the model number of that Yale hub as I do have one of these myself. ( probably the older version of the Yale smart hub ) it’s unused because I have changed my alarm system,  so before I go digging it all out and seeing if I can make it connect I also want to check the model specification.      If mine connects then yours should connect.

 Thanks
