Hi all,
I have just switched from Sky to EE.
I have the new Smart Hub 7 Plus and although most of it works, i have a couple of issues.
1. When i try to turn on "Always use this ip address" for devices on my LAN it won't toggle. Therefore i cannot set fixed LAN addresses for smart devices etc around the home. (I changed the DHCP Range/Router IP to match Sky's)
2. Port forwarding, although works, creates two entries every time.
Frustrating for the most simplest of functions.
Anyone have the same issue or can help shed some light on what might be the cause.
Is it a bug in the firmware, as i can see previous models had this working ok.

@TomSt Just watch if you decide to stay with the BT Smarthub2 and you are using a DV Landline, it can get messed up, and the EE app to control the BT Router get's strange at times also! Your MyBT will no longer control it!
The app is an ever revolving door with a 2 week cycle on it, so don't be surprised that one day the mac addressed units show up and then you can rename them on the app!

@TomSt wrote:My issue with renaming is that devices whose name has defaulted to their MAC address aren't showing in the app, so I can't rename them.
Everything else in the 7 Plus seems to be a step backwards.
Anything common/unusual about the devices that aren't showing?
What else feels like a step backwards, outside of this issue and the inability to rename devices through the web interface? On paper at least, the 7 Plus should be much more capable at e.g. a WiFi level.

@bobpullen Only one i have got on my Asus just now is the daughters iPhone 8 mac name and mac address, but she is that hide your whatever it's called stay hidden apple feature, forever changing but just let her do the thing she wants paranoid!
No longer EE but think they did show up on the 6+ and app also, wither they would change don't think they did at the time, just never bothered about was only a couple!

@bobpullen - there's nothing specific about the devices causing problems that I can see.
The two key backward steps are the inability to rename through the Web interface and the fact that not all devices show up in the app and so can't be renamed.
As a specific example, I have 4 TP-Link Deco10 Mesh Wifi repeaters. In the web interface, I can see one with a name I gave it, one with its default name (deco-x10) and two with their MAC addresses as names. In the app, I can only see the one I named. With the old Smart Hub 2, I could see and rename them all through the Web interface.
There are a number of other random devices that don't show in the app and so can't be renamed.
I understand that the 7 plus has improved WiFi, but I have WiFi switched off in the router, as the Mesh system handles that.
So, the 7 Plus gives me nothing that I didn't have with the Smart Hub 2, and some stuff that I had with the Smart Hub 2 isn't currently available/working on the Plus 7.
I'll persevere until I'm close to the cut-off date for returning the old router but, if I still have issues by then, I'll just return the Plus 7 and go back to the Smart Hub 2.

@JimM11 - thanks for the advice. If I go back to the Smart Hub 2, I'll probably just use the Web interface, as it does everything I need. I do have a DV landline but that always worked fine on the Smart Hub 2.
Just today, I've spotted that a couple of the devices that have MAC address names on the Web interface have appeared in the App named as "Vendor xxx device" and can now be renamed. Maybe all the remaining missing devices will get picked up through that process and I'll stick with the 7 Plus. Fingers crossed!! 🙂

@TomSt That's the problem with the 7 Plus, only been out in the general population 4-6 weeks, testing did either not pick up on it, or deemed fixable later, just get it out now and no doubt others will crop up, takes time to all settle and come good, patience is just NOT a virtue when relying on something but 99% off the user's do they care Nada to that!
Try turning the wifi back on with the 7 Plus and see if 1. Anything pops in for change, 2. The deco x10 next to it may be ok with wireless on, that you don't know until you try! I used to keep an app history but it was changing every two weeks and just so hard to keep up with, this works not for me, that works not for me, mobiles who cares!
