Smart Hub plus 7 - Always use this IP address Issue

Hi all,

I have just switched from Sky to EE.

I have the new Smart Hub 7 Plus and although most of it works, i have a couple of issues.

1. When i try to turn on "Always use this ip address" for devices on my LAN it won't toggle. Therefore i cannot set fixed LAN addresses for smart devices etc around the home.   (I changed the DHCP Range/Router IP to match Sky's)

2. Port forwarding, although works, creates two entries every time.

Frustrating for the most simplest of functions.

Anyone have the same issue or can help shed some light on what might be the cause.

Is it a bug in the firmware, as i can see previous models had this working ok.

@Joycee501 The EE way of doing it all, the now called 6 Plus, 2 years and still waiting on fixes with that as a few user's can tell you, fixed IP yes would be well p'd off but would go do most off the devices that could be by other methods, PF is a low % usage, most wont even know it exists with any off the other features like iPv6, DNS, DHCP control, slap it in and hope it works is the most in a home Environment, the rest people use real Router's to do the job correctly!

But it's all got to play nicely with the stupid EE mobile app, so what to expect, set your expectations low and you will not be disappointed in the least!

You keep saying 'this is the way EE do it' like we should just accept nothing will ever change?

All I want to know is when they're going to attempt to fix the issue, if they tell me tomorrow, great, if they tell me 6 months, I'll go buy another router.

Hi @Joycee501,

I can understand your concern after speaking with the team. I can confirm what @Christopher_G has already advised, that we are looking to get this sorted by the end of the month at present. It may be that the adviser you spoke with wasn't aware of this.

Hi,

The ability to specify and fix IP addresses seems to have returned!

However, there is no option to rename devices through the Web interface. I'm aware that this can be done through the app, but the app doesn't show all connected devices for some reason. I have a number of devices whose name is their MAC address but they aren't shown in the app and so I can't rename them to something more useful.

Is it possible to either fix the app or add the ability to rename to the Web interface (as it was with the BT Smart Hub 2?

Has your smart hub 7 plus received a firmware update? What version are you on?

Yes - it's now on: r3.35.24-R-1648110-PROD-84001, and the 'fix IP address' function works.

@TomSt Only ever been app based to change when it works or if it sticks when applied! If you get some time could you see if the gui has also updated!

This new firmware "r3.35.24-R-1648110-PROD-84001" has fixed the two issues i was having with the Hub. (Static DHCP addresses and Port forwarding duplicate rules)

It would be nice for future firmware releases, to include the ability to name a device in the router and the ability to add static IP addresses to devices it hasn't detected yet, Name/MAC/IP.

You can alter the names on the EE App, which is handy. They then should show on the router.

@JimM11  App version on the Web interface is showing as 3.11.3.

I've never had problems renaming in the app and and renames have always shown up in the Web interface. My issue with renaming is that devices whose name has defaulted to their MAC address aren't showing in the app, so I can't rename them.

I've only just upgraded to the EE Smart Hub 7 Plus and have yet to return my BT Smart Hub 2. If the 7 Plus isn't working properly by my cut-off date, I think I'll return it and keep the Smart Hub 2. I've got a separate Mesh system for WiFi so don't need the improved WiFi features of the 7 Plus. Everything else in the 7 Plus seems to be a step backwards.
