Smart Hub SH31B - DMZ IPIP (protocol 4 traffic)

Hi. I am upgrading my broadband with aforementioned. Does its DMZ forward all IP traffic/protocols? I am particularly interested in IPIP - proto 4 - traffic. I am trying to preserve my current router and all the services going through it to the LAN.

@JulianP This is what the text help says about DMZ.

DMZ

Only one device, with either a static or a private DHCP address, can be placed into the DMZ. The Hub will give it a private IP address and forward all appropriate traffic to this device.

Placing a device in the DMZ has significant implications for its security. Although it will still be behind the Hub's firewall, all unsolicited traffic not rejected by the firewall will be sent to this host by the Hub's Network Address Translator, increasing its vulnerability to attack.

Thanks for the reply. I am very familiar with DMZ and I know some implementations are not perfect. By the looks of it the "Smart" Hub is an extremely basic router/modem. It gives a very limited choice of options via its interface. As previously explained, I am placing another router on the EE router DMZ, so no worries about the firewall etc. I can only hope the EE hub firewall will not interfere with any DMZ traffic.

@JulianP Do you have to use the EE router for some reason, ie DV landline or specific connection etc. And as you say until you connect them you will not know how well the EE router does with the traffic, it is well locked down that's for sure.

The only reason I am planning to implement it is for the DV. Otherwise it would have gone out the window. I am assuming the DV is very proprietary and won't be possible to implement it in a 3rd party VoIP router.

I have installed the EE hub couple of h ago. It seems all services work fine via double NATting. Even the other VoIP services I have via triple NATting. Servers I am running - all OK. I'll have to check the IPIP tunnels though.

I am assuming a CLI on this EE hub is out of the question.

@JulianP yes, pretty safe assumption to make, do not believe anyone has had any success with DV on any other router, but glad things are working out as you are expecting.👍
