Rubbish range with Brightbox 2

We have recently moved, and there was only one connection point, to bring our fibre into the house. Since then, the range has been pretty poor, from our Bright box 2 router. The engineers who came, to fit our installation, seemed to think that we were going to receive a new router, which we have not. We recently upgraded our internet package and, personally, I don't think the Bright box 2 is up to the task any more (we've had the same router for over 5 years). Has anyone had an issue like this? Or is it a case of contacting EE, and seeing if they will actually do something?

@MrandMrsH74  It’s probably not going to be the range of the router that’s the issue it’ll be your home that’s causing the issue ie walls/floors the more the signal has to go through the weaker the signal the other side. This can be fixed by using Wi-Fi repeaters.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Cheers. A lot of reviews seem to say the Bright box 2 range is rubbish, if you're not in same room/line of sight. Thought that might be it.

I'm surprised! I use a Brightbox 2 in a largish house w/out any repeaters & I can watch catch-up TV upstairs over WiFi with no breakup at all.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

Our bedroom, is basically in the opposite, upstairs corner, from our router. Signal is pretty rubbish up there! Only need it for connecting to Google docs, and social media, the occasional Windows Team meet, but it's really patchy. Absolute disaster if its anything graphics heavy!

@MrandMrsH74   have you spoken to the Broadband Care team about a new router? They should be able to send you one of the newer ones for free. You may want to keep hold of the BB2 in case the new one is no better.

Wi-Fi range can vary massively indoors due to construction methods, especially in modern homes with foil backed insulation so as mentioned repeaters can help ensure all areas are covered.

Getting on that, in a bit.
