Problem with tranfere to full fibre

I have problem too but didn't want to start a new thread as this is similar. 

I want to upgrade to FF from copper but each time I try it keeps telling me I already have BB . Tried everything and still same

  @JimM11 & @XRaySpeX   yes I am currently enrolled in the ESU program until October this year. Last year I waited to see if the old optiplex ( that I've had about 8 yrs) failed and then I'd make up my mind but it didn't and still runs ok but gets a bit noisy if playing a game etc.

Yes doing it altogether would've been best thing to do and probably still will.

When I looked in Network properties I get received and transmit at 100/100 and the Ethernet port flashes amber/orange which seems to suggest slow traffic from what I've Googled. 

If there is a way of increasing to 1gb that would be great. I could get a new pc I've had my eye on which I think will work with Bright box until FTTP installation day.

That's cuz the BrightBox 1 LAN ports are only 100 Meg. You need to be looking at the spec of your Ethernet Controller or of the PC or the Speed options of your Ethernet Controller under Device Manager > Network Adapter.

I'll have a look but it's above my know-how. Should I plug the bright box out whilst doing this.?  Help appreciated as id like to use FF on this pc until I can afford a new one.

@gazmix_1973 You should also have a look on the dell website, as depending on what you have in that PC it just may be able to FW update and support win 11 also so worth a look at!

@JimM11  I need a new pc, it says in settings that it's not capable of running 11, it's really old. Just like to know if can use for bit longer with FF BB. Yer can ruin a pc if not sure what doing

@gazmix_1973 You PC at that kind off age will more than likely have a Gigabyte Ethernet on the motherboard, even if not the 100Mb/s is fine, will work on the EE hub and negotiate as required...

@JimM11 So i can run 300-500mbps & what about what @XRaySpeX said about device manager, network adaptor to see if it can run  it, do i need to plug brightbox out as that's capped at 100mbps to find out

@gazmix_1973 Yes either look at the device manager to see what device the dell reports it as, or go to the dell support site, check out the MODEL that YOU have, there are many, then look at the spec supplied with the PC, Gigabyte Ethernet has been about for well over 20 years now! Trying to find any easy guide for you, 1st one may show you!

Click on Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (same as mine) then Advanced > Speed & Duplex. Look at the Value drop-down & note the fastest, but don't change it from Auto Negotiate. In fact the 'G' of 'GBE' gives the game away.
